Sustainability has become the single most important driving force for human development. With a growing population in a dry region, the ACT needs to consider all aspects of our development to ensure that we constantly balance our needs as a dynamic society with those of our natural environment. Our aim is to work with all sectors of the ACT and regional community towards sustainable development that will see Canberra grow and prosper while keeping the bush in the Bush Capital.

E-Waste Think Tank
Information on the recent E-Waste Think Tank held by the Centre in collaboration with ANUgreen, including participants' presentations can be found here.

The Review will be officially launched on August 18 at Charity Computers Head Office in Canberra with support of the ACT Commissioner for Environment and Sustainability, Dr Maxine Cooper, Executive Director of the Consumer Electronics Suppliers Association, Ian McAlister, CEO of Charity Computers, Pastor David Campbell and representatives from Kyocera, local sustainability collective, SEE-Change, and the Conservation Council will also be in attendance.
Special guest Bernie Hobbs, of ABC New Inventors fame will also be there to share some of her wisdom on the waste debate and give some timely advice on how to green your workplace.
Bike 'n Ride for free
Bike 'n ride commuters on Canberra's ACTION buses currently ride for free. If you put your bike on the rack at the front of a bus, it doesn't cost! Visit the ACTION website for all the details

On 14 April, 2008, two intrepid graduates of the ANU's Centre for Public Awareness of Science set off from Townsville to cycle to Cape York, taking an education program about renewable energy to schools along the way. The Centre is proud to be associated with this project, which is also sponsored by Australian Geographic and the Sidney Myer Foundation. Chris Lauf and Danene Jones will be filing a blog along the way and you can follow their travels by clicking on the logo at right:
