Management Committee

President : Roger Pye
Roger Pye

Roger is a bioenergetic consultant and reiki master with a professional background in administration. He has been involved in community groups in the region for over twenty years, including President of the Bungendore Chamber of Commerce (1990-91). He is currently the Secretary of Ginninderra Catchment Group and immediate past president of South East Landcare. His principal interests include organic and biodynamic agriculture and natural methods of weeds and pest control. Roger has lived in the south east region, including Canberra, Bungendore, Braidwood and Jindabyne, since 1975.

 
Vice President : Janis Birkeland


Janis is Professor of Architecture at the Queensland University of Technology, co-president of the Australian National Biocentre and one of the founding members of Zero Waste Australia.  She has written extensively on green design and has an international reputation in the field of sustainability.

 
Treasurer : Jennifer McMillin


Jenn is a Research Fellow in the Fenner School of Environment and Society, ANU, working on cross-curricular sustainability.  She completed her undergrad degree in the USA and her Masters degree in environmental and resource management at the ANU.  She also works for ANUgreen and is the convenor of the Sustainability Learning Community, which she represents on this committee.

 
Secretary : Jeff Thompson


Jeff is the Community Development Manager of LEAD Development Agency and represents this organisation on the committee. Jeff began his career in community development as a volunteer with an inner city mission in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since his return to Australia, Jeff has committed himself to implementing community development practice in his work with LEAD, which is connected to the Centre through the ANU Bike Co-op, which is situated next door, and provides employment to people with disabilities.


 
Committee Member : John Sullivan


John is the Manager of ANUgreen and represents that organisation on the committee.  He joined the ANU staff in 2001 as manager of waste and recycling and now coordinates energy policy across the campus.

 
Committee Member : Rory Eames
Rory Eames

Rory is a PhD student at the ANU studying community involvement in natural resource management policy in Australia. He has been involved in numerous community-based environmental initiatives and groups in Canberra, and is curretly co-convenor of the Nature and Society Forum. Rory has lived in Canberra for the past 12 years and is originally from the NSW south coast.

 
Committee Member : Zoe Wood


Zoe is the coordinator of the Molonglo Catchment Group and represents that organisation on the committee.
